Xiao Zhang is a filmmaker and artist based in Dongguan and Los Angeles. They work with film, video, analog printing and installations. Their practice centers on personal poetics derived from memory, language, body, and diaspora, attending to haptic sites of trace, absence, failure and exile.
Zhang holds an MFA from California Institute of the Arts and a BFA from Beijing Film Academy. Their work has been presented internationally at festivals and museums including MoMA Doc Fortnight, BFI London Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival, FIRST international Film Festival, BISFF, Prismatic Ground, EXiS, FRACTO Film, REDCAT, Tai Kwun, and UCCA, among others.
